How to Obey the New Tennessee Driving Laws

Effective July 1st, 2015, drivers in Tennessee who do not have proper insurance will face a fine of $300, up from the previous $100 fine. Post-January 1, 2016 police officers will be able to have your auto immediately towed if proof of valid insurance is not produced. Leading up to January 1, 2017, Tennessee will implement a new insurance verification program, available online, that can find drivers without insurance through their vehicle registrations. Owners without insurance will be unable to renew their vehicle’s registration.
