As of July 1, 2015, uninsured drivers in Tennessee caught driving without the proper insurance will face an increased fine, up from $100 to now $300. From January 1, 2016 and onwards, law enforcement agents can take legal action to have your car towed immediately if you cannot provide proof that your vehicle is properly insured. Leading up to January 1, 2017, the state of Tennessee will be creating and getting into place an online insurance verification program.
