What Tennessee Drivers Need to Know About New State Insurance Laws
From July 1st, 2015 and on, the fine for uninsured drivers caught driving without insurance in Tennessee has increased from $100 to $300. Post-January 1, 2016 the police will be able to have your car towed immediately if proof of valid insurance is not produced. From now until January 1, 2017, Tennessee will implement an online insurance verification program that can find uninsured drivers through their vehicle registrations. Vehicles identified as having uninsured owners will not be eligible for registration renewal.
