The fine for uninsured drivers caught driving without insurance in Tennessee is $300. Officers of the law are legally allowed to have your vehicle towed on the spot if you cannot provide proof that your vehicle is properly insured. On January 1, 2017, the state of Tennessee implemented a new online system to verify drivers’ insurance. The program can locate drivers who do not have valid insurance by reviewing digital vehicle registration records. If the system finds that a vehicle is uninsured, the vehicle will not be eligible for registration renewal.
